The venue

You are cordially invited to the 27th IAHR International Symposium on Ice, which will be held at Gdańsk University of Technology (GdanskTECH), Gdańsk, Poland.  Most of the symposium activities, including the ice breaking banquet on Sunday evening, opening ceremony on Monday morning  and technical sessions, will take place at Gdańsk University of Technology. The university is located in the heart of Gdańsk, at 11/12 Narutowicza Street.

By tram

To get to Gdańsk University of Technology from the Old Town, you can take tram number 6 or 11 heading towards Brętowo. The closest tram stop to the university is ‘Politechnika Gdańska,’  (pronounced as “Poh-lee-tehch-nee-kah G’dahn-skah”) which is just a short walk from the campus. Tram fares in Gdańsk typically cost 4.80zł for a single journey. Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines located at tram stops. Remember to validate your ticket upon boarding the tram! On board, there are machines that allows you to pay for your tram ride with a credit card using the Fala system. However, please note that the Fala system is newly opened and may not function properly at all times. Another option is to install and use the application on the phone , which helps you select the best connection and purchase your tram ticket. One option of the app is jakdojade.pl (pronounced ‘yak doh-yah-deh’)

By car

Participants traveling by car may park at Fishera Street parking, located behind the boom barrier. Parking is free, and the barrier will be opened upon request or by using the password provided to the person in charge. The password for accessing the parking area is ‘Ice Symposium’. The parking is guarded between 6 AM and 5 PM. After 5 PM, the barriers are raised, and the area is only occasionally monitored by the university security.

By bike

Sunday evening registration and ice-breaking banquet (June 9th)

Please enter the main building of Gdańsk University of Technology and go straight to the registration desk, which should be visible from the entrance. You will be given directions to the banquet, which will be held in the Hevelius Court.

Monday morning registration and opening session (June 10th)

Please enter the main building of Gdańsk University of Technology and go to the left to the stairs, then go up two levels. The elevator is also on the left, around the corner. You should go to level 3.
